Earth Day of Service x Unity Celebration Dinner Our RSO celebrated Earth Day this year at UIUC with an act of service and solidarity. First, we partnered with Habitat for Humanity to host a service day by launching a community garden in a local Urbana neighborhood that is managed by and a community food source for its residents. We followed this event with a Unity dinner that was open to all students and RSOs on campus in which we shared a meal together and consulted amongst each other some of the things the student body needs to thrive as a unified campus. |

Leadership Development Trip to Minneapolis, MN This past Spring Break of 2022, the Organic Oneness team was able to go on a leadership development trip to Minneapolis. Along side our cross-city staff, our UIUC interns and RSO members were able to partake in service work centered around George Floyd Square. They got the opportunity to attend multiple community meetings that take place in George Floyd Square daily, met with multiple community organizers in Minneapolis to learn skills that they could take back to their own communities, and also participated in some beautification projects dedicated to the Youth. |

Paletas & Politics: Strategies from the Perspective of a Latinx Operative On March 8th, Organic Oneness celebrated International Women's Day by partnering with The Latino Student Association at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to bring Miss Claudia Ayala for Paletas and Politics: Strategies from the Perspective of a Latinx Political Operative. This was an amazing opportunity to come together and explore some of the issues we face as women as well as discuss strategies as women on how we can navigate through the political system. |

Love Action: Supporting the Jewish Community at UIUC
On February 21st, in response to some hateful and cowardice antisemitic acts that took place over the weekend at UIUC, we held a spontaneous “Love Action" on the main quad to encourage the school and community to show solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters. Students carried out counter actions such as writing messages of solidarity on the sidewalk and submitting over 35 letters of support that we delivered to our Jewish partners Illini Hillel and Illini Chabad. Organic Oneness does not welcome hatred of any kind. As we stand in solidarity, we are making a stance that NO hate is allowed on this campus toward any groups. When this happens, we should all stand together to repair the pain this has caused, and show our love and support as one human family. Black Excellence Game Night Social
On February 28th, we held a social on campus celebrating the end of Black History Month. The goal of this event was not only to celebrate Black excellence, but also allow students the opportunity to enjoy food together, relax, have fun, and recharge. We played board games, cards and even hosted a friendly “Black Excellence Trivia” competition. We had a blast, and are excited to continue having more events like this in the future that allow students to come together for moments of joy with all the chaos going on the world today.
